Notably, miscellaneous engineering jobs accounted for a 4% share of total new social media job postings in the global mining industry in Q3 2022, up 17% from the previous quarter.

Miscellaneous engineers, with a 4% share, emerged as the top social occupations within the mining industry in Q3 2022, with new job openings up 17% quarter-on-quarter ‘other. Occupational health and safety specialists and technicians came in second with a 3% share in the third quarter of 2022, as new job openings increased by 18% compared to the previous quarter.

Other important social roles include IT and information systems managers with a 2% share in Q3 2022, software and web developers, programmers and testers with a 2% share of new job openings .

Top five mining companies accounted for 42% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of the number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, in Q3 2022 were ThyssenKrupp, Cummins, Komatsu and Eaton Corporation. Together, they accounted for a combined 42% of all active social employment in the mining industry.

ThyssenKrupp posted 1,851 new social media-related jobs in the third quarter of 2022, Cummins 1,757 jobs, Komatsu 1,337 jobs and Eaton Corporation 830 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Recruitment activity was led by the United States with a 49% share of total active job openings, Q3 2022

The largest share of new social job openings in the mining industry in Q3 2022 was in the United States at 49%, followed by Canada (10%) and Australia (10%). The share represented by the United States was -2% lower than the 51% share it represented in the second quarter of 2022.
